IN THE NEWS: The Obama administration is taking on Wall Street in its latest push for reform. Coincidentally, the Securities and Exchange Commission recently filed fraud charges against Goldman Sachs, one of the most prominent of Wall Street banks. Oddly enough, Fox News feels that Obama is “biting the hand that fed him” because Goldman Sachs was his top Wall Street contributor, with employees donating nearly $1 million.
Spurred by recent comments from actor Tom Hanks, a Wall Street Journal opinion writer last week criticized journalists for paying too close attention to anti-Muslim discrimination and argued that Muslims face less discrimination in America than they might in other countries. But dismissing anti-Muslim sentiments and marginalizing aggrieved Muslims are backward and dangerous steps.
